Mnemba Atoll sits inside a marine conservation area off the north-east coast, and it is the most reliable place in Zanzibar to see healthy coral, reef fish and — with luck — dolphins on the way out.
We leave early, while the water is still glassy and before the day boats arrive. Your guide swims with you, points out what you are looking at, and keeps the group together over the shallow reef sections.
